Why I started dBU TekWorx

I have spent more than fifteen years running technology delivery for organisations where getting it wrong has consequences: Lloyds Banking Group, the Disclosure and Barring Service, Defra and The Pensions Regulator, through IBM, CGI and Kainos. Programme delivery is still most of what I do, and I still enjoy it.

At Kainos I led the trials of generative AI tools across delivery: what to use, where it helped, how to measure it, and what to stop doing. Two things stuck with me. The tools were good at the easy part, summarising and drafting. And almost nobody was doing the harder, more valuable part: connecting that output to the report, the email and the record that someone actually needs at the end of the day.

I set up dBU TekWorx in 2025 to do both kinds of work properly. It is my company for delivery leadership, and it is how I help smaller businesses put AI to work without hype, jargon or a twelve-month programme.

I build everything I recommend, and I use it in my own business first. I also tell people when the answer is no. Some of the most useful advice I have given this year was not to build the thing a client asked for, because the real problem was a process that needed fixing first.
